That last photo, boy was I steaming. Actually I wasn’t really this first time – it was bad enough to be funny – but the SECOND time I threw a fit. I caught them while they were just beginning to start emptying out the dresser drawers, they had already cleared the top…

Speaking of (never ends) babies, I also started contributing to this little hep (as in hip) blog for creative parents, which I guess, is what I am. I figure I am always scouting out these kind of things on my own anyway – so why not share? First post here and more to come…

Ninja Warriors that day I think…

I am trying to revive some sort of career and was really happy to have an Eye Candy post up this week on the online magazine Sight Unseen. Have been following this mag/blog for years now and am really thrilled to be working with them!

For his birthday – but now I can’t find it anywhere. Ugh. I am interested in watching some of these old House of Style episodes. Haven’t got the chance yet but they look pretty fascinating (if you are into in that pop culture kind of thing)…

Neneh Cherry

Tuesday, March 11th, 2014

My new hero, Neneh Cherry, daughter to Don Cherry who Patrick introduced to me last month and her mother is the artist Moki Cherry

Cherry caused a press furore when she performed “Buffalo Stance” on Top of the Pops while pregnant (with her second child, Tyson). Cherry said: “I remember some doctor saying that what Neneh Cherry’s doing could cause her child harm, that sort of bollocks. But I feel really proud of having done that. I didn’t feel being pregnant took anything away from my sexuality, who I am, the woman. It felt like a positive thing to celebrate it.”

On the appearance: “When I found out I was pregnant, my mother said, ‘Don’t separate your life, the life that you’re going to make with this child, from the things that you are and what you want to do,'” she says. “Getting on Top of the Pops and having that feeling with me was such a saving grace. I was aware of all the entrapments, being suddenly on my own in the spotlight, not working as part of the collective any more. But I remember standing there pregnant, and feeling charged by it – and proud, and very feminine, very woman. I thought, I’m not going to go away. I’m not going to go away.”

Finally found a pair of good condition vintage Sorels at the thrift store (check out these blue ones!!) -now I match Ruby. They have these great felt liners with a fur top and elastic closures, you could wear them around the house as slippers, and I also found this awesome hat, boiled purple wool, made in France with earflaps, but have to been to chicken to wear it yet. You kind of have to pop the visor and wear it hiphop style, am almost there but then just have that niggling anxiety about it. You know, hats. They’re complicated. You really have to work it or it just falls flat.
